A STORY BEHIND THIS PRODUCT
Orenz is not the first mechanical pen that uses 0.2mm pencil leads.
There was a pen called ‘graph pencil’ that used 0.2mm pencil leads in the past. It was first produced in 1981.
This ‘graph pencil’ was created as a drafting instrument, and its target users were only limited to professionals. However, this is not the origin of Orenz. Surprisingly, Pentel released the mechanical pencil ‘Sharp slide 02 (PS1042)’ that also uses 0.2mm pencil leads for universal use in 1973; which is seven years earlier than the ‘graph pencil’. This product had a sliding pipe system which made it possible to use 0.2mm super thin pencil leads. This is the origin of the Orenz. However, due to the high price and people not being attracted to thin pencil leads, the product did not sell well the first time it first came onto the market.
Orenz is a revival product of 'Sharp Slide 02’ as the market has changed and people are more interested in using thin pencil leads. New technology has made it possible to keep the quality and lower the cost of making, thus Orenz can compete in this severe stationery market.
There was a brother product for Orenz!

With this mechanical pen, you will never break a lead. The design uses a sliding tube that slowly retracts into the tip of the pencil as you’re writing. As you write, the lead slowly wears down, and this tube follows the lead all the way. A single click and the tube is advanced, and you’re ready to start writing again.
The tip of the pen point is rounded so that it doesn’t catch paper and you can write smoothly. The pipe slides allowing the lead to get shorter during writing.
A lead that will never break.
